  RISCH ATTENDS HISTORIC SALMON GATHERING
FOR GOVERNORS, TRIBES

(BOISE) Lieutenant Governor Jim Risch today made the following statement regarding Friday’s historic meeting on regional salmon recovery efforts between three Pacific Northwest governors and fourteen Indian Tribes from throughout the Columbia River Basin:

“Salmon recovery is an ambition that all of our partners see as integral to the sense of who we are in the Pacific Northwest. The structure for achieving that worthwhile goal is in place and the process for reaching it is in motion. This historic meeting of three state governments and numerous tribes from across the Columbia River Basin was essential to the ongoing dialogue between the decisions makers working to recover this living symbol of our region. Our meeting continued our tradition of cooperation and added to the foundation for collaborative efforts well into the future.”

Joining Lieutenant Governor Risch for the meeting in Spokane, Washington were Governor Christine Gregoire of Washington State and Governor Brian Schweitzer of Montana.
